Ever seen a friend buy something, noted how it benefited their lives and so bought it yourself, that’s your instinctual desire to be “normal” in action. Ever seen an advert on TV for a product that you thought would benefit your life and so went out and bought it, that’s your instinctual desire to be “normal” in action.
Normal behaviour is to want to do something that benefits your life, or more specifically normal human behaviour is to want to do whatever it takes to boost your own survival chances.
The reason so many aspire to be “normal” is to do with our desire to survive, the crowd is seen as the strongest unit, and the strongest crowd is seen from an evolutionary perspective as having the best survival chances.
So we aspire to join the crowd because we see the crowd as being the strongest. The proof is that the crowd are always the most successful group/groups of people on the planet. So when we aspire to be “normal” we are aspiring to be allowed entry into the most successful group of people on the planet.
But not just that, we are trying to become successful in our own right. And when we see others who are succeeding we have a natural tendency to copy those others in the hopes that doing so will lead to us succeeding.
That is to say the reason it is normal to want to be normal is because it is normal to want to survive, and the best practices for survival can most often be found by watching the crowd, and the best way to survive is by being part of the crowd.
Add the two together and by watching the crowd you’re most likely to pick up the best practices in regards to survival, and by picking up the best practices you’re most likely to be accepted into the crowd which will further boost your survival chances.
The reason the crowd tends to reject people who are not seen as normal is because they are deemed a threat to their survival, that is to say people who are seen as not normal are people who are seen as not to be carrying out the best practices in regards to survival, and because they are deemed not carrying out what that group deems best practice in regards to how best to survive, they are deemed a threat to the groups survival and so are rejected by the group.
Hence the reason it is normal to want to be normal is because by being normal statistically speaking you will give yourself the best chances of surviving.
That’s all for me for today, stay safe!
